Is Alpine a crappy Alto Saxophone?

My son is going into 5th grade and the alto saxophone we rented this past year is an Alpine and I just paid for the next school year rental and was considering buying it until someone told me it's not a great one to buy. Should I have looked into a better brand alto sax or is this brand okay for middle school use too?

Personally, I would definetely look in to a different saxophone. I've been playing saxophone for 18 years and studying different makes and models for nearly 15 years. I've never heard of an Alpine brand.
If the saxophone is working well, and if your son isn't showing a huge interest (e.g. he may only play through middle school), then stick with the rental. If your son is looking to continue into and through high school, then I would definetely consider a different horn.
