Alto to Bari Sax: Is the transition easy?
I've been playing a Yamaha alto saxophone since sixth grade. Now I have a Selmer and have been very happy with it. The other day my band director tells the five altos that she needs a baritone saxophone player. Of course, wanting to get out of the shadow of the altos, I raise my hand up. I knew the bari was huge, I have two friends that play it, and so she gives me the saxophone on steroids Friday, basically telling me good luck.
Not knowing anything of bari's, I buy a harness (my friend at another band plays with one), and a box of size 3 reeds. Now I see all of these, "You should buy 2 or 2.5 size reeds! Only professionals use size 3 and 4!!", articles on the internet. I don't even play on a size 3 on my alto, so it's scaring the living crud out of me.
For anyone that has transitioned from sax to sax, or any other instrument to sax, is it hard? The reeds were $52.70, opened because mother wanted to see the huge bamboo sticks, so I need this to work. 
Transitioning from Alto to Bari Sax is easy. I personally had not problems with the music or the keys. However the vibration is much slower and more distinct. It personally gave me headacheds. I knew other people that played it and they did not have that problem.
