When Music Moves Education, It Touches The Soul
Some people enjoy listening to tunes. Others feel it on a deep emotional and spiritual level and literally need the musical expression of choice in order to keep their mental balance. It can be difficult to really explain to someone who doesn't need music what it is like to be deprived or without during important moments. Creating the sounds that express ideas, thoughts, and emotion is simply something that some of us were more or less born to.
Of course, whether you opt for the piano or the Fender acoustic electric guitar isn't really relevant to the passion. The intricacies of the Ibanez electric guitar are more important than the look of any black electric guitar. The strings of a violin or the wail of a sax can all play a role in the spiritual need to move through the music.
Is there an unnatural driving force that pushes musicians forward? Is there a need to bury oneself deep into musical endeavors in order to avoid dealing with the issues of life? Or is it closer to understanding that musicians of today and musical prodigies of tomorrow are all on the same page. They just want to be inspired, live inspired, and create inspiration. When you hear the raw and powerful talent of just one special performer you know in your heart that music is just as much a part of this world as math or technology. Yet math geniuses are not looked at as though they have flighty dreams and are not patronized when they fill their heads with ideas.
There is something very raw and natural in the sounds of the street musician just as there is something raw and powerful of performing artist with unlimited fans. They invite you to share in their passion. Yet so often they were patronized, with a shuffle of the hair, when they lit their musical dreams.
Most of us can feel inspired by music. Some of us feel as thought creating the music that inspires us is akin to feeling like we are part of the necessary inner workings that make the world go around. It can be that important. Of course, you may not find that we can always express it like that. We just seem a bit obsessive.
Of course, for those that appreciate and understand the quality of music and the profound impact that music has on our lives, support is not a question. Educational facilities need the support in order to continue to allow their students to dream and become great in the own right. Musically gifted children also become more adept in math and science and score higher on reading comprehension tests.
Music opens the window not just on the soul but on a great number of things. When you open yourself up to the power that everyone from the street musician to the rock star to the first chair of the orchestra offers, you'll find that you embark on an amazing journey of your own.
