Alto SaxClarinetTenor Sax Reeds?
I've been playing alto sax for 3 years, clarinet for one year, and tenor sax for about 8 months (as well as bari for about 5 months). on my alto, tenor, and clari, i use num.2 reeds, but i think i should step up to 2.5, maybe 3 on alto (i already use 2.5 on bari). when should i make the change?
ps- if it helps, i use vandoren traditional (purple box) on alto and rico royal on everything else
What I do when I change sizes is get one of each and rotate to get used to them until I'm ready to make the full switch. I like Lavoz medium/medium hard (depends how I feel when I'm at the store. haha) for my alto, and I just switched to medium hard (same brand) for my bari. I liked the medium for the bari, but I'm just beginning to get used to the harder strength, because it just sounds more full with more sound. Vandoren is a good brand especially for clarinet, but I heard they're harder in general. I don't know if that's a myth or what, but I've used them on my alto before and they worked fine!
