Where could I find the history of music of the classical era?

I'm wondering about music from classical era. I'm trying to look for information on the inventor of, when it was invented, famous composers for, piano, violin, flute, (I don't even know if the rest were even in the classical era, but I would like to know about them as well) trumpet, saxophone, and clarinet. Any information would be extremely helpful; website, book, anything. I don't mind if it's written like a textbook, (or even if it is a textbook, for that matter) I'm looking to find as much information as possible. I'm sorry this is such a large question, but I haven't been able to find much at all on this topic. Thanks to anyone who can help!
