Is it hard to sell saxophones at second hand instruments stores?
I recently recieved a 1970 Brass Conn Tenor Saxophone 16M (with starburst design) it is overall in good condition with minor scratches on the back, minor dents (nothing majore at all.) All of the pads work, the sound is fine. It comes complete with case, cleaning brush, mouthpiece, strap.
I called a few music stores and they told me to bring it in..
Realistically- would I get a decent amount of money? Im shooting for a minimum of 200. I'd like to sell it asap. I checked ebay- and the same model of saxophone I have is up for sale at 850.00 (used.)
Any expert advice?
Don't check the asking price on Ebay, go to "advanced search" and check what the sales actually closed at. Check "Completed sales". That will give you a better idea of a realistic price, you could be right on, or they might sell for more. Used instruments stores have to make a profit on it, so you are going to lose some of yours. May I suggest using Ebay or Craigslist. Far more people would see the horn on Ebay and Craigslist is local, thus cutting out shipping problems. Why are you only hoping for $200? Both should get you more money.
