i need some help choosing an alto saxophone for the concert season coming up.any ideas?
I am in the high school band and we just finished football/marching season. My current saxophone is a julius keilwerth st 90 series IV. i bought it probably 2 years ago in middle school when i had a years' experience in. now i have used it through football season and i was wondering can i just keep using the same sax for concert or just get a seperate sax for concert seasons? any help is appreciated. thanks
If the sax is in good condition, I see no reason to buy a new one. If there's anything wrong with it. However, if you'd like a more professional model saxophone, I would probably upgrade. The ST-90 series is Keilwerth's student model. As for professional horns, I usually recommend any of the Yanagisawa horns, Selmer Series II, or the Yamaha Custom horns. Keep in mind, you will not find any of these saxes for less than $2000 new. If you feel like spending money, or you might eventually play in college, I would seriously recommend upgrading it before that point. It doesn't have to be right away.
