Does Selmer make good saxophones?

i've been playing alto sax for three years and i'm looking to buy an intermediate level selmer sax. are they good quality? and what's the price range?

Selmer makes great horns. Price range, probably $300-$5000

If you've been playing for 3 years, you'll want to consider a few horns, depending on your budget. The biggest saxophone companies are:

Keilworth
Selmer
Yamaha
Yanagisawa

The most common being the Selmer and Yamaha. Look into a Selmer Super Action 80 or one step down (not sure what model that would be). For Yamaha, look at a YAS-52 or YAS-62 (next step up would be a YAS-82Z or "Custom Z," a professional level jazz horn). All Keilworth horns are handmade, and I wouldn't suggest getting one at the intermediate level. Yanagisawa's A991 is a great horn, but I'm not sure how much they run. With our economy running like it is, all the prices have gone up significantly... but any of these horns would be great.
