What traditional piano-bass-drums jazz trios are recording now?
A while back I stumbled across what turned into my favorite jazz album ever: Sunday at the Village Vanguard by Bill Evans. I love the subtlety of the performance, and that particular instrumentation. Since then I've also picked up Waltz for Debbie, and Portraits in Jazz; and a great Andy LaVerne album, Time Well Spent. (LaVerne was a student of Evans', and it shows.)
But I'm having a hard time finding anything else similar. What should I look for?
No saxophones, dammit.

Also, try Aaron Goldberg. I have seen him live a few times, but haven't heard any of his albums so I can't personally suggest any of his albums BUT allmusic.com is usually very accurate with their reviews. This albums review says there is Evans influenced music on the album. Probably so.

If you want to hear more Goldberg after hearing this album, then get the John Ellis album called Roots Leaves and Branches. This is a great album, to my ears. Goldberg is a big part of why the album is great. There is sax on it, but Ellis is not a loud selfish player. He is very tasteful and doesn't play louder than necessary for the song.

You might also like Robert Glasper. I remember hearing the album called Canvas. I don't remember much about it except that it was good and I was planning on getting it. I haven't got around to getting it yet, but if I remember correctly, I think its something you might like.
