Classical saxophone reeds?
For the last few years, i've been using Vandoren 3-3.5 reeds on my yas-62II alto saxophone with an s80 C* mouthpiece...
just recently though, I started noticing the inconsistency of Vandoren reeds (I'm really really picky about reeds) and in the last 10-pack of reeds i got, only two of them were "playable" (which adds up to about $12 a reed)
so...basically, I'm looking for a reed that:
-Is high-quality and consistent
-CLASSICAL (not jazz) tone
-somewhat affordable (I'll still use Vandorens for practicing at home, but I want a really nice reed I can take to rehersals)
btw, i'm still in highschool, so I'm not looking for some super-high quality reeds...just something a few steps above what i'm using right now
A website where I can buy the reeds would be appreciated (music stores in my area only have ricos and Vd)

Rico has a new line called Rico Reserve that are very high quality. I think you may be just a little picky though. I'm a professional saxophonist and Vandoren have never had such a low-quality output as to only give me 2 out of 10. I maybe get 1 out of 30 (or less) that is a completley unplayable reed. What you should probably do is start learning how to adjust your reed by sanding/carving the reeds. It takes a while to learn, and you'll have to buy at least a reed knife, but if you get good at it, it's a skill that is great to have. Here's a site with some information.
